Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit. -Proverbs 18:21 NKJV
So last week’s blog was all about peace and texture. I thought it was a week to speak on those topics, and as this week progressed, it only became more textured—more layers, more depth. You know, life and death hold power, and that’s something I truly believe. Everything we say holds weight. It manifests and I see the results.
Personally, I don’t often engage in really deep conversations. I process things internally and don’t always go deep with others. I just don’t want to go there all the time. But, understanding the power of words, life, and time, it becomes clear: you have what you say. Whether it’s good or bad, your life reflects the words that come out of your mouth.
I’ve seen it in others’ lives as well. They speak certain things, and then they’re surprised when those very things happen, not realizing they brought it upon themselves. We have to be mindful. Life is a direct result of our words, and that’s the truth. Lately, I’ve been verbally journaling, but I am mindful of the truth: we have what we say.
What I desire to experience in life is His life—because Jesus died so I could have life, and that life is tied to my words. For me, speaking the Word of God is the only option. It’s like a safe space, the only protection from both the seen and unseen. And I’ve witnessed it over and over, the power of the words we say and the life we live. They have to align.
Recently, I was reflecting on my life and future. I know what I don’t want, that’s for sure. I’ll be turning 32% this year (yes, 32%). Some people think 30-plus is old, but that’s crazy. If you’re only 30% through a 100-year life, that’s like having 30% battery on your phone—not much, right? Why are we acting like 30 is old? I’m just getting started!
So, with 32% of life lived, there’s still so much ahead of me, and I’m determined to speak life into my destiny. I look at those who are 50, 60, 70, and beyond, and some of their lives don’t reflect the promise. That pushes me to take my relationship with God more seriously. This world’s temporary things don’t compare to the benefits of the Kingdom, the daily benefits God provides. The Bible says we are “daily loaded with benefits.” Who else can promise you that?
I’m not about to be 85%, looking back, and realizing I didn’t accomplish anything significant or impactful. That’s not my story. Death and life are in the power of the tongue—that’s my focus now. I need to take my walk with God to another level: trusting Him more, believing in Him more, following His instruction, and being obedient. Obedience leads to accountability, and that’s where I want to be—accountable to the Word of God.
At the end of my life, my goal is to fulfill my purpose here on Earth. I want to hear, “Well done, good and faithful servant.” What else is there? What else am I doing this for? That’s it. That’s the whole purpose.
Until next time, let’s speak life.
