Micro-progression is something that has been rolling around in my mind. In previous blogs I’ve written about slow progress is better than no progress but Micro-Progression is what I’d like to call it moving forward. In fact, my very first blog was about taking small steps so this concept has been broiling in me for years. I have since seen the results of this concept. This is funny coming from a recovering perfectionist, the all-or-nothing mindset was killing any kind of progress I wanted to make.
Like right now, I’m working on an E-Book called Woman Shall Not Live By Sex Alone. The old me needs to write in the perfect setting and the perfect time, with no interruptions or distractions, and write the entire thing in one shot.
One thing that I need to have painted on my walls as a constant reminder: My voice matters. Someone’s life is impacted positively every time I share my story and ideas.
So, with the mindset of microprogression removing the veil of perfection, I’m setting small focused goals and milestones for this project or that is what I am trying to do. It is very tempting to pull an all-nighter just to get this out of my system. I even put the E-Book out for pre-order to help make sure I get this done. It is imperfect right now. My cover is taking forever to load, I had a concept of a plan to roll out of the pre-order but the cover is missing! This is a safe space so I am sharing this with you all. Whenever the cover catches up with everything I am going to share it with peeps on other platforms. This project has been challenging because I have not written anything like this before and I am nervous about it. I am nervous about being judged because of the subject matter but I cannot continue to suppress the ideas that I have. I have to write this. Now back to Micro-Progression…
Micro-progression: requires perseverance, endurance, and not giving up.
One thing I hear often is, “there’s no shortcut to success.” Well, I noticed that. I cannot go back to the past but I can see now that the steps, no matter how small will be appreciated in the future. I am still working on this idea. I had another blog written but for most of the blog, I was trying to find words!
A blog is better than no blog.
Update!
There is a purpose in everything. The cover for my new E-Book was taken forever to load, as I was taking my outline to-go with me, I found a cover that I previously created and had forgotten about. I decided to change the cover and just like that, the new cover uploaded immediately.
