Hi guys, I know it’s been a minute. It really has. Quite a few things have happened since I last blogged, Joe was murdered by a cricket (RIP Joe), I got a new spider, a Brazilian black tarantula named Noirla, and my little army of isopods is being fruitful and multiplying. On top of that, I had some time off and took a quick jet2 holiday to Seattle, which was nice. Shouts out to Seattle.
I’ve also got another project in progress that I think you’ll find helpful in some way. I usually share what helps me, and this feels like something worth putting out there. So apologies for the delay, but the important thing is, keep the blog going, keep writing, keep creating. That’s essential.
Funny thing—I actually tried to write while I was in Seattle. I was literally walking the streets with a brand new notebook I picked up in Louisiana. I was down there for a couple of days for my great aunt’s homegoing, and as usual, the need to write came up strong. And for me, certain notebooks are only for certain things. I already had a backpack full of notebooks, but I needed a new one for this specific season of writing. The one I bought was perfect—it came with its own pen and strap. So there I was, downtown Seattle, walking the streets, notebook in hand.
Oh, and don’t let me forget—the ice cream. Handmade coconut ice cream by the pier. Handmade. Listen, it was everything.
If you remember my blog from last year, I was talking about working out, getting back in the gym (big back or bulking). Well… yeah. I can definitely see the results of not sticking with that because I haven’t worked out since July. That’s another situation altogether, but I’ll leave that there.
So here’s the thing—I’ve been thinking about this next project. With Woman Shall Not Live by Sex Alone, I just did a PDF download and put it on Apple Books/iBooks. I have also self-published on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Apple before. I even downloaded Substack, but I don’t quite get it yet. For this project though, I don’t know what direction to take. Should I blog it? Print it? Release it differently?
The main reason I want to get this out is because I know I’m not the only one. That’s what always pushes me to share—when I recognize that I can’t be the only one who’s gone through these things. And if sharing helps someone else have a better outcome or avoid some of the pitfalls I had, then it’s worth it. Preventive maintenance, if you will.
My desire is always to be better, and I know I’m not the only one with that desire. But there are some things I just hadn’t learned or didn’t know until recently, and it would have been so helpful to have known earlier. That’s why I share.
So let me know—what’s going on with you? What are you working on? Creatives, share your work. Share your process. Support each other.
As for me, I’m just figuring out how to release this new project in a way I haven’t done before. Not just another blog. Not just the same old format. Something that stretches me and reaches differently. I’ll circle back once I know more.
Until next time.
